Transition Planning for Military Families:

Our school understands that military families often face challenges in transitioning to a new place. Our Military and Family Life Counselor (MFLAC) is crucial in supporting military students. The MFLAC counselor regularly checks in with students to provide guidance and emotional support.

Academic Planning for Military Families:

Our school offers a comprehensive academic planning framework tailored to the needs of military families. Each fall, we conduct orientations for both regular education and advanced programs, ensuring that military students receive guidance and information about their academic journey. Additionally, we provide summer enrichment programs specifically designed to offer academic support in mathematics, bolstering student proficiency and confidence. Our MAP coordinator and school counselors collaborate closely with military students, offering individualized attention and support based on their unique requirements and aspirations. These initiatives are integral components of our commitment to ensuring academic success and fulfillment for every member of our military community.

Resources for Military Families:

Our students can participate in various extracurricular activities, including band, PE, art, coding fundamentals, and digital/informational technology. We also have several clubs, including BETA, culinary, FCS, D&D, and Rainbow. These activities foster acceptance and personal growth and allow military students to connect with like-minded peers.

Student-Led Transition Team (S2S Club):

Peer Counselors are student-led peers who help show new students around and provide them with support. They provide services to students who are in need of advice, as well as serve as a resource to resolve peer conflict.

Support for Military ESE Children:

We offer personalized assistance from ESE for our military students with exceptional needs. We have an inclusion model, a learning lab, and two ESE teachers who provide push-in services to designated reading and math classes. In addition, we have a full-time functional class for ESE students.

Military Recognition Events:

In the fall, we plan events like Veterans Day Acknowledgement, where we recognize military veteran staff. In the Spring, we participate in "Purple Up Day" and host recognition ceremonies to honor both active-duty and retired military parents and our military students.

Mental Health Resources For Military Families:

Our school houses mental health professionals (TRIAD) on campus, and they are available to serve students from military families. The TRIAD team provides screeners and offers small group/ individual counseling and mentoring.
