Mowat art students just finished their dessert still life projects, and they look AWESOME!

Students learned about the famous artist Wayne Thiebaud and his iconic paintings of cakes, pies, and other sweet treats. They then used geometry concepts to learn how to draw three-dimensional shapes—including cylinders, rectangular prisms, and triangular prisms—and transformed those basic shapes into their own unique desserts.

To bring their drawings to life, students used blending, shadows, and highlights to create the illusion of light, depth, and dimension.

This project is a great example of the interdisciplinary connection between art and math, showing students how these two subjects can work together to create something amazing!
